Hi Tdh...

It is a 69E OTS.  Here is a picture of the Jag and the Porsche. .Hard to believe that some of these new money people could not tell the difference between the car in the front and the car in the back....sad ...so... sad.

Sweet rides.  That looks like a good start for another Cannonball Run...

The Jaguar XKE is undeniably one of the most classic sports cars of all time. The running gear is based on the Lemans winning 1950s race  models, utilizing the double overhead cam motor. There are few cars sexier than a jag XKSS.

The  XKE is so beautiful that it has a dedicated place in the Turin motor museum in Italy. They show all the film clips of people making out in Jags and the social impact of the car.

As it says in some movie, you have chosen well. It would be a little sexier if it had covered headlights, and was a 1967 model. But who am I to quibble, I have been a BMW guy my whole life, and drifted off into porsches while in college. I  highly recommend the Italian national motor museum, which has many beautiful exhibits, not just the XKE one. I will include a few pictures from the museum in Turin- I was there this past October and it was a highlight of a trip to northern Italy.DSCN3037.thumb.JPG.03a1d35a3c6cfbc99d5055e63bc7e5cc.JPGDSCN2712.thumb.JPG.53d2fa5d890dcfdb46018669f4a2da70.JPGDSCN2712.thumb.JPG.53d2fa5d890dcfdb46018669f4a2da70.JPGDSCN2712.thumb.JPG.53d2fa5d890dcfdb46018669f4a2da70.JPGDSCN2712.thumb.JPG.53d2fa5d890dcfdb46018669f4a2da70.JPGDSCN2712.thumb.JPG.53d2fa5d890dcfdb46018669f4a2da70.JPG

Forgive my poor editing, I was trying to remove that picture of myself with  great race drivers and somehow it got repeated. The old program used to let you preview your post. I am not a narcissistic egomaniac -really I just love cars.

Keep on oversteering, and how about the curves on that Disco Volante, or those curved velocity stacks!

Abe,

Its hilarious to me that you can roll up in REALLY REALLY nice SII and they don't even know what it is.... You probably had one of the coolest cars there.

I just rescued a 70 OTS from a guy that was going to try to make it into an electric car.  It was all disassembled and in really bad shape.  Ended up putting it all together and selling to a guy in the UK.

That's a great looking car!

Ah, John Surtees. Sadly died earlier this year, an English Grand Prix motorbike road racer and Formula 1 driver. He remains the only one to have won World Championships on both four and two wheels.

A point to consider is that high octane, premium type fuels often have a lower turnover.  A small gas station with less custom is likely to sell contaminated fuel where not used frequently.

Exactly the problem I had with my Turbo when I did the first fill up after importing the car from Germany.  I thought it would be best to use something in the same Octane range as German premium fuel.  Instead I paid double for bad gas.
