Another sticker question

Does any one have a good pic of the 75 black emissions sticker?  Mine is indecipherable .  I saw the 76 sticker that was made for Conserv but there are a few subtle detail differences like RPM for timing.  Also, my 02 has the small tire sticker on the passenger fender, would a 75 have the larger one as well that I have seen on the hood next to the fuse sticker?  Thanks

I would also love a good pic of the oil service sticker.  On a 75 it says 7500km service interval, all of the repros say 6000km.

Same as the ‘76 oil sticker.  I’ve got to look at my replacement stickers — about to go on the car — as I hadn’t realized the ‘75-‘76 oil sticker was 7,500 km!

I’ve been trying to address this issue while on the subway.  I’ll do better when I get home. ?

Best regards,

Steve

For some reason, Chris -- I'm not offering an explanation -- the EPA tuning stickers disintegrated more rapidly and thoroughly than any of the other underhood stickers.  My stickers tended to be in very good condition, except for that darned EPA tuning sticker.

I sat with my disintegrating sticker, a 1983 photo of that same sticker, and photos of two other cars' sticker to piece together the text, which I then had Car-Bone (Poland) reproduce (the first three photos below are of my '76 and two other '76 stickers, respectively).  I'd bet that 90% of the 1975 sticker is identical to the 1976.  So we don't need much beyond the little that remains of your car's EPA tuning sticker.

The fourth and last photo is of my replacement sticker. Upon review, it looks like we missed the factory-style underlining of "1976". ?

Best regards,

Steve

W & N do a 7500km oil sticker, but the layout is wrong.

Be careful what you get also; the sticker below came in a set. Whilst the layout is correct, where it states über 30C, it should have a + and not a - !!!

Another good issue, Chris.  Until now, I echoed a predecessor’s reference to this (the above) tire pressure sticker as “the 1976-only tire pressure sticker.”  That now appears to be wrong.  Besides yours, I’ve now seen this same “d version” (note “d” at lower right) of the tire pressure sticker on the right inner fender of at least a few 1975 models, just fore of the Original Parts sticker.

So does your son’s 1975 actually have a second tire pressure sticker, or are you just asking whether it might have?  Whenever this “d version” first appeared (1974?  1975?  1976?), I’d guess it replaced the predecessor tire pressure sticker.  Hopefully a few members have some good photos of original 1974-75 engine compartments.

Best regards,

Steve

I only have the small sticker near the orange parts sticker but the corner was missing so don’t know if it was a  ‘d’ or not.  I had no stickers on the hood as soon it had been repainted years ago.

I still can't figure out why those EPA emissions tuning stickers are in such bad condition!

Could be a combination of exposure to sun, rain and heat through the hood vent.

But the Oil sticker is in the same place.....maybe less heat??

Steve:

I am assuming they sourced the EPA emission stickers from a different manufacturer than the rest of the stickers found on 75/76 and earlier cars and the material used was not as robust.  When they started to deteriorate, the 2002 was already out of production, so no one cared?

My 1975 Mintgrun car had the same issue.

Thanks, Mark, Thanks, John,

I even wondered if it was installed at another point in the car's delivery, say, at the U.S. Port of Entry....

Yours, Mark, might have a enough "meat" left for Chris's needs!

Best regards,

Steve
