VIN 1560809.  That is going to be an early 1968 model, possibly manufactured September or October 1967.  There are, accordingly, a lot of ‘67-style features present, carried over from the ‘67 model to the early ‘68 model: silver bezel surrounding the three instruments, chrome fascia on lower dashboard, driver’s left-hand mirror mounted near leading edge of door.

This car, like Lorin’s even earlier ‘68 (VIN 1560300, September 13, 1967), is essentially a ‘67 model with factory-upgraded (12-volt) electricals!

Four rare early wheel covers present: a good sign that the car is fairly un-molested!  But the need for a new floor makes me nervous, especially at the $4,500 asking price. ?

Regards,

Steve

No visible cracks in the dash, that's rare. Floorboard can be replaced, I would look carefully at the rear struts and other structural weak points to ensure they are solid. Asking price is more than I would pay but these are getting harder to find.

In the past 3~4 months over 2 dozen 1600-2s have been on Ebay or Craigslist. I guess the increase in asking prices is bringing them out of the woodwork

sigh .....

yes ... you are right ...

but there is a soft horizon of OCT 2018

i'll start trying to share more once i get my sleeves rolled-up

My personal experience is that “soft horizons” are considerably further than they appear... ?

Take my ‘76’s 6-month re-paint, for instance, almost complete now, 2 years, 3 months later.  ?

Congrats on the new purchase.

Steve
