Addition to My Collection

I recently sold my Chevron B16 with the M10 in it and this opened up a slot in my garage. I had been looking for something a little more modern like an ex-DTM E30 M3, but they have gotten crazy expensive. So I looked west and found this:

It ran in the JTCC series between 1991 and 1993, finishing runner-up in the championship in 1993 driven by Anthony Reid. The car is coming from Australia and should be here in early February. Here's a little preview of the car from Phillip Island last year:

Looks like a beauty Steve.  Where did the B16 go?  Never spoke with you about it but it seemed like you were never really comfortable in that car.  I have to say though they are really one of the tops in terms of looks - right up there with Porsche 906/08/10's.  Looking forward to seeing you run this one with the rest.  Happy 2018

VERY cool. Congratulations!! That is spectacularly beautiful, I love the colors, especially with the gold wheels...and the scream of that motor is just awesome! What are you planning on doing with it? Did it come with spares? Nice find and Happy New Year!

Thanks, Mark. It went back to NY. I loved the Chevron, and they are certainly beautiful, but at 6'3" I just didn't fit. We tried lots of things to help me fit, but I just was never comfortable in the car. I really enjoyed driving it, and my last to 9th at Monterey a couple of years ago showed I could drive it, but  .  .  .

If you look at any pictures of me in the car my head is about 4" above the top. Not a good situation.

I noticed .... and I could tell, not so comfortable.  I'm 6'4"....so I guess a B16 isn't in my future....haha (like I could afford it).  I think your going to love that M3, I follow this guy's FB page, resto of the original Jagermeister DTM M3, lots of great info and pics.  Check it out when you have a minute or 20.

Holy shit that's a lot of 4th and 5th gear corners...  and hitting the rev limiter in 5th on the front straight before lifting a little then turning in for Turn 1...  and having the back end a little floaty in Turn 1 in 5th gear...  Whew, Phillip Island is for real.  MotoGP guys make it (well, everything, really) look not nearly so sketch...  Damn, I got goose bumps.

Enjoy that thing!

Well, Dave, feast your eyes on the beautiful underside of the car:

First words...  Fffffuuuuuuuuuck.

Last words... Cockpit adjustable sway bars!

That's really beautiful.  It looks like someone was really very serious about building a race car.
