They're just trying to recapture what has been lost.

The 2002 has it's own palette of scents:

Exhaust fumes

Fuel vapor

Coolant seep

And everybody's favorite...

Decomposing gummihar

My youngest daughter got into the car the other day and said "My morning just wouldn't be the same if I didn't get to smell the car"

No gas or exhaust, just the clean crisp scent of the horsehair pads.  Which is very distinctive.

It smells very similar to rocking horse shit. I wouldn’t bother.

Carbs: They're necessary and barely controlled fuel leaks that sometimes match the air passing through them.
