Nice "barn find" here...or should I say "garage find", a vintage 1977 BMW 320 SCCA ITB race car. The car was campaigned by two talented owner/drivers 1992- 2007. It was issued the car numbers, 56, 55 and 23. Very competitive in it's class, twice SCCA SARRC ITB champion and SEDiv Solo 1 champion with various Hill climb and event lap records. It was recently upgraded to compete in the vintage category of the Targa Newfoundland, but life got in the way, so now it's reluctantly being offered for sale.

This rare sunroof delete version was originally a Reseda Green e21, then it was re-painted to "Chevy Truck Grey" for the track. The car retains it's stock appearance of its street bound siblings. The sheet metal front hood is still present, pinned to the body. The windshield, side and rear glass is the original spec glass. Both front and rear "diving board" bumpers have been removed to decrease the chassis weight (but are included with the sale). All the side body molds and rear marker lights have been removed and holes shaved/ filled in. It has a post face-lift European spec front valance. The "is" model delete rear deck lid is in very good condition. The body is hail dent free with very little rust, and basically ready for new paint...or wrap

Inside, the flat white business-like cabin includes a fully sanctioned 8 point SCCA ITB roll cage however it will require two drivers side door bars welded in. The original dash comes equipped with a cluster of Auto-Meter race gauges (tachometer, water and oil temperature and oil pressure). The key ignition has been updated with a push button starter, and sanctioned cut-off switch. Two Recaro Profi race seats with Recaro steel (FIA) brackets/rails and are FIA eligible until 2019. A pair of CIPHER 5 point race harness. The DSX three-spoke quick release race wheel is in very good condition.

This car is equipped with a Power Plant 2.0L m10 race engine and rebuilt Top End Performance head with "cheater" cam. New e10 intake with 38/38 Weber conversion (original fuel injection included) Totally custom Top End Performance header designed specifically for the e21 chassis. Baffled Oil Pan. Crane Fireball XR3000 ignition with PS91 coil. Oil cooler setup. Power is transferred to the rear wheels with a 5-speed OD transmission (original 4 speed included) mated to a (391?) limited slip differential. Fully adjustable Ground Control Coil Over suspension and Camber Plates. Front strut bar, 21mm Front Sway Bar, 3 Position Rear Sway Bar w/ urethane links. Urethane Bushings in rear trailing arms. 13x6 BBS Basket-weave alloys with newer 205 60 13 Toyo Proxes. ATL Race Fuel cell, Accusump and newer fuel pump.

Great power to weight ratio, very quick and fast, easy to drive and maintain! An excellent platform for Vintage racing (SVRA Group 8 eligible?), Club racing, HPDE or...Included with the sale are the SCCA Logbook(s), 4 containers of miscellaneous spares, along with a clean Illinois title signed by the previous owner. VIN 5423712. Priced at $11,450. Please feel free to PM/contact me with any questions or requests at 314-704-8560 (texting okay) or wiljkemper@gmail.com
