door gasket install

Is there any tips anyone can give me on installing door gaskets. I can get the B-pillar side easy enough but once I start around the corner down the roof line I'm having trouble getting the lip to stay under the aluminum trim.....heat? soap?

Put the lip side in place first then roll the strip to pop in the other side.  Work your way along to the front.  Drape the weather strip over the hinge til you get in the wing window area.. Glue the vertical sections.

Hard to damage the rubber; use a dull blade of some sort.

A plastic putty knife works well for this job...

I just did both of mine.  

 

The only thing I would add,  is once you get it well started at the top, make sure that the ends meet up with the sill gasket at the bottom.   Then start to glue from there.

Yeah just press the rubber lip under the aluminum using a plastic fish bone.

A windshield installer inadvertently left this tool behind after installing the windshield in my 2002. I used it to install the door seals, rear window and rear window seals; it made the job a piece of cake.
