The last round taillight model year was 1973, so there were no 1974 round taillight cars. The U.S.-spec tii was manufactured for the 1972, 1973, and 1974 model years, so the last year was a square taillight model year. There were no automatic transmissions offered by the factory on tii’s. In 45 years as an ‘02 owner, I have seen — in photos — two tii’s converted to automatic transmissions, so it is do-able, even if it would not be advised by 99.7% of tii owners and buyers.

 

But CA is easily the best place to buy an ‘02 of any sort!
