While replacing the A Pillar panel, I cut out the vertical fender support bracket as it was rusted out.

Think of my horror when I went get replacements and that Part is NLA

how can you get the fenders and other parts and a key part is not supported any more.

What do you guys do. I suppose it could be made up

Did you check W&N?  Thought I saw it as available on their site just a few weeks ago...

I have emailed W&N and Jaymic (UK)

It is showing on W&N catalog. both companies said it is not available, and do not know when it will be, how can they stop making such a basic part.

I think I discarded the part I removed, I could take some dimensions and probably just make one with some appropriate angle iron would be the easiest.

When I started my resto some years ago all the parts where easily available, my other big problem is the front panel needs replacing, which also not available unless you want to spend 2K on one.

You are perhaps speaking of the flange, #5, that mounts

the fender to the A-pillar?  I have fabricated them

out of sheet metal, as they've been hard to find at various times

in the past, as well.  The NICE part about doing that is that

you can now position it to align the fender precisely to your door.

The tricky part is the threading for the fender

bolt threads- I welded properly threaded nuts on, and used regular

bolts, rather than the 'speed nut' type thing that BMW used.

You have a very old car.  It's impressive how much

IS available for it.  Given that the demand for these

parts is small, and shrinking daily,

we've all discovered the hard way, like you, that it's best

buy them when you find them, parts cars are essential,

and eventually, that sometimes learning to make things

yourself IS the easy way to get it done.

+1

Walk into your local Ford dealership and ask for a fender for a 1973 Ford....  ?

Anyway, used parts go naturally with 45 year old cars.  Post a Want-to-Buy ad in the classifieds section.

Regards,
