Spare tire tub

Hi Folks,

 

Thought my spare tire tub in the trunk was in decent shape but after some grinding I discovered the rust has broken through in a few places. Looking for a rust free donor tub to graft in, any help is hugely appreciate as it seems like a full replacement is NLA.

You know, a trick that works really well and is a benefit in terms of availability and being able to accommodate a wider wheel and tire than stock is using the piece from an E21 320i.  You will have to do some slight grafting but it will be much easier than trying to find a rust free 2002 tire well.

You can get new replacement tubs for around $260 to $280 through 2002ad.com. At that price though maybe some sheet metal work would be more cost effective for you

Wow, this site is amazing, I've been buried in RealOEM, Resto Design and Wallth&Nesh with no luck but you're right, 2002AD seems to have them, Thanks so much Guy.
