Center console heater deflectors

After removing my center console to replace the carpet, I noticed the back is tied together with a plastic piece that has two angled surfaces, I assume to help deflect the air from the heater.  Mine is missing the fiberboard pieces that go on top of this.  Other than making them myself, which I'm not opposed to, is there a source for these little pieces?  I think they were glued on originally.

At least on roundies, those pieces are simple masonite cutouts, painted black and riveted (with headed rivets, not pop rivets) to the heater housing.  I doubt if they're available from BMW, but should be easy to reproduce with a scrap of masonite.

I used very thin plywood from Lowes or Depot.  It's much more rigid than the original.  Sand smooth and paint flat black.

Or, use ABS sheet.  No need to sand or paint, and impervious to moisture.  Tap Plastics will cut you small pieces for almost nothing.

What adhesive did you adhere with?

Mine are set with two screws, each side to the wooden cross piece in the console.

I am installing my console as I speak. Mine are missing. what are their purpose?

The early car (short console) has the deflectors on it.  Some heater boxes have a finned plastic deflector riveted to the two rectangular footwell outlets.  These would help direct the heat on cars equipped with a/c consoles.

Actually not riveted -- they snap in.
