They did have it on the outer of the rear valance. Thank you for sharing. Anyone else want to pipe in on how the bottom was undercoated in 1973 from the factory?

Just to clarify, the Agave car shown above (on its side) is a round taillight.

Regards,

Steve

I didn't see that photo on my phone, but on the computer its here. Do you know was their any intentional chip guard on the floor pans sprayed from the bottom.

I know about the overspray, but I think I am painting mine all Colorado on the bottom...

No intentional chipguard on the bottom: mostly just primer and overspray. Most comprehensive paint jobs paint the underside beautifully. That’s probably great for the car, and certainly great to show off, but it’s also a huge upgrade over the factory finish!

Here are some underside photos (4 years old) of my ‘73 tii. These represent factory finishes.

Regards,

Steve

Steve,

thanks for all the information. I am going to do some additional chip guard and seal sealing where it makes sense, but since we have the car completely apart, and have to paint it we are going to paint and clear the bottom.

your photos and knowledge were very helpful!

all the best

mike
