76' 2002 Wagon concept!

So I was photoshopping a picture of my 76' 02 to post on social media and I thought I'd want to see what it would look like if they had made wagons of these beauties. So there you go! I kind of like it, but I thought I would much rather here what you guys think about it, and if you would have one!

Whenever you are building a station wagon out of a sedan, step one is to visit the wrecker and pick out a nice tailgate. Design-wise, the rest will solve itself. BMW wagons got a lot easier to fabricate when BMW started making factory ones and you could get the tailgates, etc.

 

Early days, it was VW squarebacks and Volvo for tailgates.

Yes, but that's a fastback, not a squareback. 

 

Unlike BMWs, their notchback was the rare one; never offered for sale in the US.

I’ve always wanted a Notch, and Type 34 Ghia.

Someone (on the west coast I think ) had a partially finished ‘02 wagon for sale a while back. Seems like it was agave with no glass in it. Maybe a shop owner? I’ve often thought a wagon build would be a fun/challenging experience.

In BMW nomenclature, it's a Touring. The same name applied to BMW wagons after the 2002s

When my Touring was originally titled in the UK, it was called an Estate. Just to confuse matters further.
