Street Legal, period correct, vintage racing eligible, SCCA Logbook
2.0 liter M10 inline four cylinder fuel injected engine
5 speed transmission

Most tii purists will probably not be interested in this car, but this car wasn’t really prepared with the purists in mind. It’s still a genuine tii and it is street legal, tastefully modified track ready and even has a SCCA ITA Logbook.

This Southern car is a true survivor, a 1974 BMW 2002 tii SCCA ITA race car (chassis VIN 2782224), with an interesting back story. It was previously owned by a Physician down in Louisiana who was a PCA and BMWCCA driving instructor. He was planning to make this car into a weekend toy and track car for HPDE schools. He was swapping out the driveline from a 1973 tii, upgrading the suspension components, installing a roll cage and changing the body color, The car was being put back together when hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf coast. They were able to get the car to safety, but all the 1974 paperwork and VIN tags were lost in the storm. All that was recovered was the original block and crankshaft (which is available)

Since this car was going to be mainly a track car, he decided to re-brand the chassis with the VIN plates from his 1973 tii parts car. This way he could title the car and drive it on the street. So now the two VIN tags, the engine VIN, the VIN on the title, (and the VIN on the SCCA logbook) are all the same number, 2762712.

This original Malaga car has been resprayed at least once (Alpine?) white (a slightly better than average job). The OEM sheet metal front hood and rear deck lid are still present and in very good shape. The windshield, side and rear glass are still the original spec glass. The weather stripping is still very pliable, with no drying or tearing, and only a little shrinkage around the windshield. Both front and rear bumpers are US spec and in great shape and were removed to decrease the chassis weight (but are included with the sale). The holes left by the removal of the bumpers have been filled up, but can be reversed if the bumpers need to be reinstalled. The light weight Ireland Engineering ABS plastic front air dam is in used but damage free condition. The car is equipped with upgraded working Marchal H3 headlights, Euro flush turn signals and US spec taillights. The slick-top body is in very good condition.

Inside, the seats and carpet have been removed to present a very business-like flat black cabin includes a fully SCCA sanctioned Andy McCoy Racing roll cage. The original equipment dash comes with the original gauges and a auxiliary cluster of race gauges (tachometer, water and oil temperature and oil pressure). The ignition is OEM and a SCCA sanctioned cut-off switch. A pair of Corbeau race seats with brackets/rails with Speedway and Corbeau race harness belts. The Nardi-style three-spoke wooden steering wheel is in very good period correct condition. A pair of e24 rear seats are included, just in case you’d like seating in the rear.

This car comes equipped with a 2.0L m10 fuel injected engine, performance header and exhaust designed specifically for the e10 chassis. Front upper strut bar. Power is transferred to the rear wheels with an upgraded 5-speed transmission mated to a open differential. Ireland Engineering suspension, Heavy duty Bilstein shocks, front coilovers and camber plates. Front and rear sports sway bars. 3 piece Epsilon/SW 15 inch basket-weave alloys with 195/45-15 Yokohama performance tires.

Excellent candidate for Vintage racing, Club racing, HPDE/weekend toy, Auto-X/Solo, Club or Vintage racing. The car is priced at $17,850 and is sold with a clean title and SCCA Logbook in “AS IS” condition with no expressed or implied warranties with no return policy.
