Turn Signal tab?

Hi, I got the tab, not sure how to install it. I removed the big bearing so the tab will reach the arm on the signal but how is it oriented?  Does the signal arm rest on the tab?

There should be a small gap between the column piece (cancelling) and the turn signal pin while in the center position. The Blue book shows this detail and the required gap.

Top left of the faq Board page.....click on Articles, then History & Reference, scroll down & click on BMW 2002 Service Repair Manual, scroll down & click on section 24, scroll down to pages 25 & 26...…….Voila! The small gap that Jim mentioned is 0.3mm (about 12 thou).

 

FYI the collar ring goes on the steering shaft first then the cancelling cam. The cancelling cam locates in the back of the steering wheel hub (as seen on page 26).

Thanks, It did not seem  the cam would reach  installed that way, but I'll try it.

The spring compresses when the nut is tightens down on the steering wheel.
