02 Touring seat belts

Hello guys,

 

I have the opportunity to buy some new NOS non retractable 3 point Autoflug seatbelts complete with new hardware, (for a pretty good deal)

Before buying them I was wondering if someone could confirm that these were originally fitted on 74 Tourings.?

 

When I check Realoem, it suggests retractable Repa seatbelts. Although, there was a non retractable Repa fitted in my Touring. (only one though..)

 

Could someone shed some light on this? Or should I just get the NOS seatbelts anyway.

Autoflug, Repa & Gränges-Essem were all used in Tourings according to the parts book.

Any idea when they switched from reguar 3 point belts to retractable belts?

I would assume the ‘74 came with retractable seatbelts. My 2002tii Touring is a ‘74 and still has the original belts (they are retractable).

I’m hoping@Conserv can chime in here but I believe the non-retractable belts were used up to ‘71?

U.S. cars got retractable belts in 1972. European cars? I simply don’t know. I believe retractable seatbelts were adopted later in Euro-spec cars than in U.S.-spec cars. And, obviously, tourings are Euro-spec.

 

My long way of saying, “I don’t know when tourings switched from spaghetti belts to retractable belts.”.... ?

I believe from model 73 (Sep~Oct '73)
