Sheesh.  While you guys were dickering around, I used Esty's spy- ray and snuck down and bought it.

Seriously, if the bottom's not rotted off of it, $4000 US is a good price.  If it runs, drives, and shines up,

it would easily sell for twice that in Seattle.  Shit, non- running resto candidates are asking more than that

for a bog- standard roundie.  A 71 tii touring rolling resto candidate is going to be way more exciting, since it

seems to have the correct VIN.

But rust is the key- if it's very rusty, it's not going to be an easy flipper.

Tony I’m in Costa Rica. The taxes and shipping would be brutal.

What's really curious is that the car is LHD, has a kph speedo, but the fuse sticker is in English.  Raul, check the engine number.  It's on a flat pad machined into the block, just above the starter motor.  That number should match the VIN if the motor is original.  Post what you find as it will indicate--if the engine isn't original--where it came from.

Buying it and then driving it home from Costa Rica would be quite the adventure.  I spent a week in San Jose back in November and didn't see but one BMW older than an E36--a lone E30--no 2002s at all.
