Holy Cow, Uli! There is so much new information here for me to digest!

The Mahle-BBS came to the U.S. as an option on e21’s, but only in the 6” width. The lookalike (a.k.a., “basketweave”) 5.5” rims that arrived in the U.S. were by Lemmerz and others...

And 195/70 tires?  For ‘02’s?  I’ve not been able to translate the notes yet, are they suggesting that these 6” rims, 6.5” rims, and 195/70 tires will fit with the standard fenders? Or, as with the 6x13, part number 36 11 1 112514, are they assuming fender flares are necessary?

Im guessing the date of this brochure is 1975, or later.

Thanks and best regards,

Steve

Hi Steve regarding flares in another Part of the document it's stated that wheels have to be covered.

In Germany there are very strict rules for covering wider wheels.

This is part of the BMW document Umrüstmöglichkeiten dating 1983 which describes factory approved Modifications.

Thank you, Uli,

In essence, these rims are, with the exception of the factory turbo alloy rims (36 11 1 112 514), e21 rims approved by the factory for installation on ‘02’s.

Have you actually witnessed the use of 195/70 R13 tires on any ‘02’s? I’m not certain you can purchase any 195/70 R13 tires today. And it would have a larger rolling diameter than a 185/70 R13 or the standard 166/80 R13. But I was curious whether there is tire rub! ?

Best regards,

Steve
