Difficult shifting recently like the gates are not where they were prior if you will

Is shifter loose and all sloppy and the trans not getting full gear engaged?

You broken your drvers' side motor mount.

Try letting the clutch out with the hood open- watch

the engine to see if it hops out of the bay...

Or if you have an early car (pre 1971), the right side motor mount bracket itself may be cracked/broken.  Early brackets are a single piece of bent-over metal and stress fracture.  Later ones are welded up and much sturdier.

We definitely need some more information to diagnose.

To test your mounts as Toby recommends, it isn't about reving, it's about applying a load.

Have your foot on the brake and let out the clutch a little so that it wants to stall the motor. If the motor doesn't move dramatically, then that isn't your problem.

questioning effectiveness of communication, here.

MB, at a stop with the car in 1st and the hood open,

and a safe amount of room in front of you,

try to drive away with the emergency brake pulled.

This will 100% rule out what's happened to me twice now.

Your initial description of what's happening makes it a likely possibility.
