WTB tii gas tank

WTB 16111111604 tii gas tank, realoem shows it as being from From: 09/01/1973. Would need to be reasonably clean, I have a rusty one, don't need another of those. We can figure out shipping, it'd be going to 77379.

Just FYI: There are occasional errors in BMW's digital data. VIN ranges apply to USA spec cars only. 

 

Here is the breakdown of tii tanks - this may help you get the correct one for your needs. Data from my own research here at Maximillian Importing Company. (Our website shares much of the same BMW data as realoem, but I pride myself on making sure my customers get the correct parts!)

Are the 614 and 770 tanks available? I have a new 604 I bought as a spare for my ‘73 tii, which currently has a patched tank...  And I’d like a spare for my Turbo.

If I can find the correct (614) tank for my ‘73, I’d be glad to sell you my new 604!

When I ordered a part number ...0614 for my ‘73 — admittedly 4 years ago — I received a part number ...1604, a square taillight tank (cropped right rear corner for crash reinforcements).  When we queried why, the answer was (1.) the ...1604 was the only tank still available, and (2.) a square taillight tank will also fit a round taillight (but not vice versa).

 

Four years is a long time, so perhaps the ...0614 is available once again. I’d love to know.

 

But given that the ...1604 is a functional equivalent of an ...0614, and works in all tii’s, there’s not a lot of incentive for BMW to produce two models on account of fairly subtle differences! ?

 

Yes, Lengrep and I are un-happy with square taillight tanks for our round taillights, but that only makes two dis-satisfied customers! ?

The 16 11 1 111 604 tank is available (there are TEN of these remaining in BMW's worldwide inventory and then they are gone!) Cost is $1200.00 plus shipping....but I can get them! Realoem / BMW own websites show the 604 applying to all tiis after 4/71 but I know this to be untrue, as the vin break between 46 and 51 liter tanks is mid 1972...NOT 1971! The car in my driveway is proof. June 72 production... small 46l tank with bolt in pickup unit. 

 

The only other tank available currently is the 51 liter NON-tii tank used on EUROPEAN SPEC cars, for $1100.00.

A local well-regarded radiator shop repaired and re-lined my last rusty one for $350.00. There's also a franchise of "Re-Nu" fuel tank refinishers that offer a very good warranty on their work. I've sent them a bunch of Porsche and Benz tanks over the years. 

 

You can do it yourself with the red-kote stuff...but I SWEAR that shit will change your DNA...so use with caution.

I have the tank I from my '73 tii.  It's clean and no problems/leaks. I installed a brand new tank when I sold the car and have this one in case I buy another 2002 tii.
