WTB: 1976 Speedometer w/ 1.39 gearing

Looking for a 1976 cross-hair face speedometer from a '76 BMW 2002 with gear marking id 1.39.

You get no guarantees that a speedometer from a 49-state 1976 2002 will have 1.393 gearing, even if it is marked “W=1.393”!

 

There was a factory foul-up during the 1976 model year, and this foul-up led to a number of (thousands of?) speedometer heads marked “W=1.393” which, in fact, were geared for a 3.64 differential:

Thanks for the input.. I was not aware of the inconsistency in gearing for the 49 state '76 speedo's.  GuessI'll be biting the bullet for a Speedhut gps speedo so I know what 'm getting.

If Walloth & Nesch sell a W=1.393 (or 1.390) speedometer, it’s probably geared correctly. (Their other replacement speedometers are reportedly quite accurate.) And don’t get me wrong, some of the original 1.393 speedometers were geared correctly. But you really don’t know until you’ve tried them...

 

After I first heard about the speedometer fiasco — in late 1976 — I asked my service advisor whether my car, manufactured April 23, 1976, could have the problem. His answer: “Of course not: they solved the problem early on!” Hmmm.... Wrong again! ?
