Manufacturers Paint Numbers for Inka Orange

Brakey

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of doing a full restoration on a 1973 02.

Having a heck of a time locating the paint manufacturers numbers for Inka Orange.

I contacted Sherwin Williams with their part number 5770 from the 70's and they couldn't come up with a mix that would be representative.

They said that they have 3 or 4 oranges with that part number.

I ran into the same issue with Riviera Blue but persisted and they mixed it for me.

Has anyone requested Inka Orange paint recently and do you have a good number for PPG or Dupont?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks

I have been to this site and used the numbers for Inka Orange but struck out for Sherwin Williams.

I'll try calling the local Dupont and PPG stores to see if they can mix a gallon based on those numbers

Well just got off the phone with both PPG and the Dupont store now sells Nason paint.

Nason only has it in single stage acrylic enamel and PPG or their shopline brand can only mix it in waterborne or Laquer.

So I'm basically SOL

I'll have to find something close.

The previous owner of my car went through this. He lived in Canada and the shop had a hard time finding Inka also.

It was painted in 2014 and they ended up using Audi Glut Orange. Everyone thinks its Inka and a few thought it was Colorado.

Some people I explain it to others I just agree. Its very close I think maybe a little more orange, but any shop can match it.

Seriously, Barney just painted his Tii in the original Glasurit, single stage Inka. He can give you the paint # and contact info.

Photos below might be helpful:  different lighting views of two-stage PPG automotive paint matched to BMW Inka code 022.  Away now.  When I return home in a few days I can send you the PPG codes from the original cans.
