What a little Mother's polish and a buffing wheel can do. 

 

That's right kids, you too can have reflective stainless steel with just a little heavy rubbing and some lotion.

I'm about to do this same job. waiting for my new buffer. What polish did you use?

The OG Mothers mag and alum polish works the best I've found.

I used the Mother's Mag' with my buffer with average results.

The super fine steel wool actually worked better than my buffer!...

I did do once over with WD40 and steel wool just to get the grit off. Then gerous lube with the OG Mother's and stood there doing the ole in-out in-out and backways and that way on the bench grinder with a cotton wheel. Takes maybe 30 minutes each.
