BMW 2002 shell

Well, it’s a 1974, 1975, or 1976 model: they’re all the same at the shell stage.

The chassis VIN is stamped into the outer edge of the right front inner fender, close to the heater/defroster air plenum.

If you publish the VIN, RealOEM.com can tell us the month and year of the car’s production. It might matter especially in CA, where 1976 cars are subject to emissions testing.

GLWS,

Ahh, a desirable mintgrun color with a sun roof, once upon a time judging by that dash.  The seven digit VIN referred to by Steve can also be found engraved on that silver plate shown in your first photo, adjacent to the passenger side strut tower.  It looks like the ink on the plate is worn away, but because the VIN is engraved you can probably still make it out.

The VIN is actually a Taiga Tii. Pretty uncommon color/model combo. @repoman used to own this car. It has changed hands a few times since then. Probably due to the floor pan rust and the snorkel nose Tii.

VIN 2781879 is a 1974 U.S.-spec tii, manufactured in May 1974.  And, as 02tradition already mentioned, it is a factory Taiga metallic car.

Are you telling me that no one here has the time, money, or ambition, to re-tii this shell? There are certainly a few 278xxxx engines kicking around to make it “all ‘74” and “all tii”.

I’m just going to sit here and wait for your blog, entitled “Rediscovered Taiga!” No, wait... maybe it’s “Taiga tii: Rediscovered”! ?

I’m still waiting.... Perhaps you didn’t notice the factory sunroof?  ?

Regards,

Steve
