I've been noticing a lot of online ads for the BHCC as of late. Between the sheet metal leprosy and SUV french-kissed grilles, some fascinating tales:

I bought my tii from BHCC.  I was super hesitant to buy from them, but I think I got pretty lucky.  I wanted a desert car, and this one came up in a search.  I had an inspection done, and as ugly as it was, turned out to be a good driver and a solid car.  The interior was scary, but when I got the car, most of it was in the trunk and in pretty good condition.  All the exterior trim is there and the chrome is shiny.  I found some stickers on the back side of the bumpers showing they were replated in the '80s.

I was able to track down a couple of previous owners, and the immediate PO was a BMW mechanic who turned the car into a reliable driver.  Another PO who sold the car in 2002 had the engine fully rebuilt and autocrossed the car.  It had a good number of suspension upgrades plus an LSD & 5 speed upgrade.  I assume there have been very few miles on the car since the engine rebuild because I have a set of what look like brand new tires dated 2007.

I've put a lot of love (time) into the car to get it where I want it.  Other than splurging on a steering wheel, Recaros and Campagnolo wheels, I really don't have a ton of money in the car.

This is my favorite car to just jump in and drive, and i don't have a single regret!

Those cars must have been especially imported to CA from, say, New England, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio etc. just to give Californians experience in rust repair....The 1600's right rear suspension arm was rusted through!  I think the term "parts cars" is appropriate here...

You're gunna hate me... but I kinda love how your paint looked oxidized. haha. I can't explain it, but I love it! Like a purpley dusty rose in satin finish.

Different strokes...

I just couldn't do it.  Though I guess it does look like BMW's newer "Frozen" paint jobs ? .

The pics off the trailer are cool for sure and I do love that "patinia". NY Transplant I think the car looks great with all the work and details that have been done. That paint turned out great.  I think this is part of the joy of owning a 2002.
