Did BMW put 74-76 grills on some 73 cars?

Did BMW put the newer grill style on some 73s?  The reason I am asking is there is a car for sale on ebay listed as a 73, with round tail lights but a 74-76 style grill.  The vin goes to a 73.  I have seen this before and I always thought some one put a different front or rear clip on the car.

Front end damage at one point and replaced with the newer used front clip would be my first guess.

Not a uncommon repair. At that price it should be the correct front I think.

That is what I'm thinking too.

There have been several periods in the past 20 years or so that roundie noses have been unavailable from BMW or any other source, and folks with cars having damaged front ends were pretty much forced to use the later nose, or just park the car until the proper nose became available.

BMW never did.  Lots of people did later.

 

In for 'factory air con' and other features.

Forged internals gives you lots of horspowers, rights?

That nose was replaced at some point. You could tell by the nose/fender joint at the top. My understanding is that it was leaded flush from factory. Hopefully the repair was done correctly. Still nice though if your not a purist.

I want to like this car,but to much of a mish mash of parts. Old,new, go fast parts, and I have a big boy racer streak in me.

Plus very shiny and a dealer  sale, meh.  Could be well done but the entrance fee is pretty high for this thrifty guy.
