Discussed on the general forum:

This poor guy, hoping to get just a bit more than the $1,500 the scrapyard offered, probably has 750 full-price offers and another 750 well-over-full price offers sitting in his email in-box.... ?

Regards,

Steve

Agreed! There was, otherwise, going to be a brawl in this poor guy’s driveway!

Went for $7250...just a bit more than his original ask!

That’s a reasonable price for an inop Ceylon ‘72 tii.  Buyer and seller should be happy with that.

Wait that’s not the right picture, that’s the one I showed Tory and said it could look like... I’ll believe it when we loaded on the trailer.

Be honest, Barney: you picked up the car yesterday and you completed a ground-up restoration in time for lunch today.... ???

And you even added a sunroof...

Well done! ?

Best regards,

Steve

Yes this car has a new home I was able to win this car and get it loaded on the trailer, very happy overall with price/car...some rust issues but all fixable.

l really like the rims I hope they will work with out the flares.

It’s amazing how movements in the classic car market — including, especially, values — change the perception of a given car. The owner of this car with, I’m guessing, a twenty-year-old knowledge of tii values, would himself have gutted the interior of the car and figured that the car was now most likely scrap metal or, at best, a parts car. And I’m certain that view was correct at one time.

I still have my ‘76 because in 1982-83, when it was in need of a re-paint ($2,500 for a good paint job back then) and engine work ($2,500 for a top-notch balance and blueprint), the car was worth probably $600 as is or, maybe $1,200 with the new paint and engine work. I stuck the car in my parents’ garage because putting $600 in my pocket wasn’t going to change my life. It’s a good thing the ‘76 wasn’t worth real money at that time, or I probably would have sold it, and it would have been dust or crushed by now.

Congrats again on the new tii, Barney. I’m thrilled to see it in your capable hands!

Best regards,

Steve
