Joe Ming a SCAM?

Placed an ad in the parts wanted section, got a reply from Paul (Weg), no surprise, obviously legit.

Also got a PM from 'Joe Ming', Joe Ming <joeming0147@gmail.com>,  with the exact (ultra rare) part not for a 2002, wanting to use Moneygram (Western Union).

Found this...  Not the first post, but several about him...

Didn't want to PM, wanted to email.

He says he's in Washington, I think I'll offer for one of you guys to stop by and pick up the part for me and see if he bites...  Doubt he will.

And if you haven't seen it, this is funny...

As soon as I hear “Western Union” or “I’m having problems with my PayPal”, all correspondence ceases from my side.  Although James Vietch’s TED talk was hilarious!

Best regards,

Steve

Oh yeah, for sure.  Although I would have loved to have a z4mc steering rack for 220 shipped...  There are about 2,000 in the country and most of them are still in their respective cars.

Latest email...  I'm going to tell him one of y'all can come over this afternoon.

I appreciate your effort towards finalizing this deal, I'm located in
Kirkland is a city in King County, Washington, United States. A suburb
east of Seattle, ...

NOTE:
But you should know there are other customers that are also in need of
this item, so please don't be surprise if i tell you have sold it out
before your friend comes to take a look. was actually waiting for your
response that's why i refuse to sell out as someone is seriously in
need of it and ready to pay more,  but am a very down to earth person
because you are my first choice and i hate disappointment.

I really don't know why am saying this, but i hate doubt. everything
about the item is in great working condition and so i see no need for
all this stress. intend of making payment and i proceed with shipment,
you are making things complicated

Thanks
Joe

Just sent.

Joe!  You're in Kirkland!  Excellent.  I used to live there and have friends there to this day!

What's your address?  I can have one of them come over this afternoon with cash.

Thanks so much.
Dave.

I'll gladly catch the next ferry to go get it for you, Dave.

...

Tom

I know, that's why if it worked out...  Ya' know, I really would like the rack.

He got back to me...  I'm going to tell him we have a deal- and that my buddy Tom can come get it whenever he's home.

Sorry, i am  not home. Will be back next week, in a business seminar
... and my wife was to be the one to do the shipment but at it is now,
i don't allow my customers come to my house for pickup when am not in
town. i only give instruction to my wife on how to ship.

So right now i think we can have a deal, maybe she sells to the other guy.

Thanks
Joe

And reply to him from me...

Joe, that's exciting- hopefully you are learning something useful, or at least getting drunk and having fun.

We have a deal- I'd still like the VIN from the car.

My friend Tom can come at your convenience upon your arrival home next week.

Your friend.

conversely, as a seller, the "i will have a friend come by and pick it up" is classic scam buyer if payment has been made by paypal or other similar payment scheme.  since "friend" picked up, there is no traceable receipt of the item.  buyer then files claim with paypal to get money back for "non-receipt" of item.  seller is then out the item, and the money.

vietch has a series of hilarious videos on robocalls, spam and scams.  funny guy!

I have always steered clear of (ignored) messages with bad English grammar. Unfortunately, with the invention of smart phones and the like, and apparently spell check that people don't use, I never buy anything.
