Can anyone identify this piece of kit?

Looks like this:

 

Seems to me like a brake light switch on one end. Maybe a very early 1600's brake master cylinder that did not have the booster?

I don't remember the master cylinders that were mounted in the pedal box having the light switch mounted on the master.  Also the single circuit masters only had one outlet.  Is there a part number on the box?  Even if it is a ATE number you should be able to trace it.

Yep, I've Googled as well. Would love to see where it is on a car. A real pic of a early example or something. Or is it worth anything to anyone.

Early 1602 & 1602 cabrios.

Difficult to see detail in pics as the fluid reservoir sits directly onto the master cylinder.
