4-speed

Hello! My original 4-speed in my 1976 2002 is popping out of 2nd and getting real noisy so I'm looking to replace it.  Anyone have a good condition 4-speed lying around they'd like to sell me? Preferably in the Bay Area. Thanks! Ryan

Hello, Ryan -

I have two 4 speeds, one that I payed $40.00 for and the other was given to me by an faq member.

I don't know the working condition of either, as I rebuilt my original. You're welcome to them, but you'll need to pick them up in Fresno. 

FYI - My 75 was noisy, also.  I took it apart and found the problem was the older original lay-shaft bearing had gone bad. My shifting forks were all within spec, so I replaced all bearings and upgraded the lays-shaft berg to the improved roller bearing. It shifts very nicely now and is quiet. 

 

Additionally, Popping-out  of gear can also be caused by flexing as a result of: worn-out center support, Guibo, or shift bracket bushings etc. So be sure to give those areas attention when you replace the trans.

Thanks Eric, hoping to find something closer to SF but I'll let you know.  I've tried the supports, guibo, bushings etc.

Have rebuild ones only in stock with warantee .

Can bring up to Brisbane in spring.
