Who’s had a barn find?

Yup. But sorta backwards. I took the '02 out of a garage where it sat for 20 years and put it in a barn ?‍♂️ (It didn't stay there long). I've had my fair share of others find me too.

Kind of?  Not in the true sense (which I would say Wegweiser owns....if I remember right his was not only in a barn but part of the barn was collapsed?  Or, am I mis-remembering?).  My car was stored in a ' carriage house ' in upstate New York.  I never saw it there so no idea if it was 'a barn-like carriage house' or fancy.  Pic 1 is what it looked like when I got it, pic 2 is from back in the day, pic 3 is present day.

In 2015 my friend Mike and I found as close to a barn find as you can get. It was a 1970 2800 sedan parked in 1981 in a garage in Riverside after it had overheated. It had 52k miles and the owner took it to Hermosa Beach for every service which is over an hour away.  Why he didn’t  get it repaired is a mystery as it was obviously cherished.  Fast forward 34 years and the son of the owner loses his house to foreclosure as well as the 2800.  The motor is now seized solid but the interior is pristine and almost looks brand new.  We were willing to put a deposit on it sight unseen and had a flatbed tow meet us there and we purchased it immediately.  A year later I had rebuilt the motor, brakes, suspension and drove it to Monterey in 2017.  Someday we will paint it but for now it’s a great survivor.  Check out the original license plate and rare plate frame.

Four?! Someone has the magnetism! I’ve always wanted to do a mid west tour ala American Pickers (sans Frank) with a car hauler and come back with more projects.

Shoulda mentioned that those four cars were found over a 46 year period, 1969 to 2016...

I purchased a 72 golf euro 2002 after watching it for five years setting next to a dilapidated farmhouse, one day I drove by and there was an airstream trailer park next to the house I drove up and was able to make a deal and purchase the car that had been sitting for 17 years for $300... I restored it and gave it to my son Ellis.

My barn find came with 5 lbs of rat poop, and one absolutely flattened, mummified rat carcass.

I have no idea how it became 5mm thick, bones and all.

But it's an '82 320, and aside from the one rust hole in the trunk that

let the rats in, the shell's very clean.

Friend of my sister- in- law's, by word of mouth...

I had a landslide find once- it hadn't quite slid down the slope- yet.

t

speaking of rats...how about an free 85 euro 320 with m50 swap "yard find"....
