I've always named my cars--goes back to a college friend who named his Fiat 500 Nuova "Luigi", followed by a small-window VW named Rommel and a Porsche named Der Mittywagen.   And I had a boat as a kid in Ft Lauderdale, so naming just came naturally

I name my BMWs for German (or Germanic) composers:  Wolfgang, Ludwig, Johannes, Georg Fredrich.  My other cars have names typical to their country or origin:  Anatole, Pierre and Bridgette for my Renaults; Benito and Luigi for my Fiats, and Kermit for my Bugeye Sprite.  All male except Bridgette, a '56 convertible, so named for Bridgette Bardot, whose first American movie came out the same year.  And a convertible just has to be a "she."   Wife's Toyota is an appliance--no name.  And my pickup truck is Wilkie, so named because I bought it in Rushville IN, hometown of Wendell Wilkie...

Leslie = male

Lesley = female

I realise since coming this side of the pond nobody knows that.

Duly noted.

I will have to tell my friend of the XX gender that she is spelling her name incorrectly.

Pat...love it so funny

Doesn't a car have to have more than 500 hp to name it after a guy?

..Bruno...Max..Thor...

I never name my vehicles. But after this statement, my car believes its has 500hp, but doesn't.....

 I think I may name my car.....
