Spare tire well and nose center section

I am in need of a new spare tire well that I can weld in and I need just the center section of an early nose to weld in.  My car is a 72 and was in an accident in the 80's. The only parts available at the time were for a latter nose.  I believe the sides at the grill are the same and all I need to change is the center sheet metal rather and cut the whole nose off?  Any leads or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

That might be correct, but maybe you should hold an early (aluminum) grille against the existing (square taillight) sheet metal to ensure that the aluminum and plastic grilles share the same dimensions and profiles, at least at their “outer ends”?
