Does this apply to rear springs also? I saw the spacers on my car.

There are spacers in the rear, but not for exactly the same reasons.  They're actually the upper spring perches/pads, and come in three thicknesses, designated by "dots"-actually incuse dimples drilled in the rubber.  The thinnest is designated by a single dot, the thickest by three.  By changing the thickness you can either lower or raise the rear end so that the car sits level.

But all '02s came with one of these thicknesses; it wasn't like the front spacers that were specifically for US market to meet a Federal safety requirement.

Ah, the Mark Hyman Ltd. 2002. Has been for sale there for years. He sells some high end prewar cars. He's the cigar chomping & brash St. Louis verson of Wayne Carini. I'm on his mailing list.

These spacers were for ALL '02s (ie worldwide), not just US models. Also they were on E3s and (I believe) E9s.

I've never been entirely convinced they were for headlight/bumper positioning, but, no clue what else it could have been for.
