But buyers of NOS heat shields should assume they must replace the factory’s semigloss black paint with high-heat paint, high-heat powdercoating, ceramic paint, or other equivalent. That factory finish will burn off, leaving the shield rusting — which is why so many of the original heat shields are missing...
