Interesting. I'm not a body so I'm curious about epoxy coating before finishing the metal repair. Will it get re-epoxy-coated once body repair is complete?

I sprayed one layer of epoxy to protect the bare metal. You never know how long the metal repair lasts.

We marked all the areas where repair needed. After that a second layer will be sprayed.

Done with both front frame rails, front floor pan and rockers.

Next rear fender quarter, and doors.

As you can see from the pictures. Doors have been repaired previously with metal patch and revits.

Could not find outer door skin, so will fabricate one .

Suspension parts being media blasted and powder coated.

Hi DrA76- project looks awesome- congratulations on your great work

I have a couple of questions given your results look so good;

1. with the media (garnet) blasting- did you have any problems with heat warping? what do you do to avoid that?

2. did you paint with a base coat/clear coat 2k system?

thanks

Hi ozgeorge.

thank you.

1. no warping , i use low psi ,blast at an angle and keep distance from the metal about 30" . it takes longer to clean the metal  but id does not damage the metal.

2. 1k system.

Many thanks, appreciate the input! My 73 is getting done in about 3 weeks and that's what I was planning to use as well :).

Good luck. Just make sure to test first.

I usually test on floor pan, just to make sure that everything is ok .
