Not ‘02 related-Goodbye old friend...

A douche in a Jeep Wrangler was kind enough to pull out in front of me this morning during a TR6 joy ride.  Totally his fault.
I’m a little banged up, and I may have some lower back disc issues that a specialist will have to evaluate.  I’m alive, so that’s the important thing.
we called the car Ozzie Osbourne because the week I bought it I found a headless bat in the grill (get it? It bit the head off a bat like Ozzie).
I know it’s not an ‘02 but I thought I’d post up here anyway to say BE CAREFUL!  If I’d been in a modern car with anti-locks I still wouldn’t have been able to stop the car.

Vaya con dios old friend.  You will be missed.

If you’re having a drink tonight, tip one back in honor of Ozzie.

Dang!  Glad you're OK.  Your picture is my nightmare!

Ya know, if the frame isn't bent, it's probably repairable.  After all, Wrangler Douche is paying the bill!

One for Ozzie, but also one for you. That bonnet came awful close to taking out that windshield and what's sat behind it. Had a friend with that exact car/color - BRG always looks best on them.  Stay safe out there...

i don't quite know what to say here

i'm not much of a 'sharer' ...

but that is nearly the exact car that my dad had

he passed suddenly ... yesterday

i made this my desktop picture today ...

so yes ... goodbye old friend

there is obviously no doubt i would trade the 6 for him every second of ever day ...

but his car will come to me here in Oregon ... and the kids will learn to drive stick ... and turn wrenches ... and never forget Grampa George

sorry to hijack the thread ... but the cosmic coincidence was too much for me to ignore

hug everyone you love ... every chance you get

Very sorry to hear of your loss, Geoff. As you say, cars are no substitute at all for the person, but they can be a powerful "touchstone" for our memories... and for making new memories with a new generation. Enjoy driving it, even if it brings some tears occasionally. It's part of the process.

Man, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad.  All I lost was a car...that I can fix if I decide to do so.  Enjoy your Dad’s TR.  I’m sure he’s looking down with a smile knowing that’s your plan.

For all I know, you’re a TR expert.  If that’s not the case, and you need help or have questions feel free to reach out. I’ll be glad to help.  Sorry for your loss.

Travis.

Indeed.  I was a little rattled when I got out and saw where the corner of the bonnet was aimed.  Any faster and things could have gone wrong in a big way.

Sadly the frame is a noodle.  I “think” the engine is okay, but there’s a front crossmember on a TR6 that’s now wrapped around the front of the engine.  It IMMEDIATELY shut off on impact so you know the drill.  It might be a boat anchor, or maybe it’s not.
One interesting observation is that I always run an inertia switch in any of my old cars that I’ve put an electric fuel pump in.  It worked.  I was running a pretty loud Carter rotary vane pump and it shut down.

I'm gonna fight hard for a settlement that involves keeping the car and $.  It want my fault, and I’m injured, so we’ll see!
