People who put led's in older cars are the reason I upgraded my super Oscars to 130 watt bulbs. now the pencil  beam will pick up road  up to 7 miles away if you can find a road straight enough, anyway if you have the right to blind oncoming traffic so do I, but I don't have strong feelings either way.

My apologies for trying to see at night. I have them adjusted to the right height as to not blind anyone. It's one of those things I felt I had to do to stay safe. If you want to be completely period correct, then just buy new sealed bulbs.

For those of us who daily drive LED headlights allow us to see and be seen. Easy to switch back to the original ones.

If these had been availab le when the cars were new, all manufacturers would have used them. They are brighter and use much less energy.

I put hi quality bi-xenon projectors with 35 watt 4.5k (white) lamps with 7" un ribbed glass lenses into my 02.

Did a couple nighttime track events, amazing visibility with focused lighting performance.

Bought the projector kit from the retrofit source about 12 years ago, knowledgable people and not 1 issue.

I find that the single worst headlight on the road is the one in the opposing car.

Standard 'sealed beams' with halogen envelopes, getting 13v and in proper adjustment, work very well-

and we live well into the dark out here.  If you can get a pattern smarter than DOT, bonus.

NOTHING does any good against a Ferd F-treefiddy FartGlaster HaddleyDumberthanShit version

with the whole front end lit up like a sports arena.  Add some DumbAssLEDBARDOUCHES

and point them straight up for maximum effect.

jus' sayin'.

t

halogen works.

Another data point below (personally I'm not into the whole guns thing but the reviews are excellent). I recommend IF you go LED that you opt for full lens and bulb combination, and that you pony up for the more expensive ones and not the cheap knockoffs from Amazon/eBay/China. For my Vanagon, I ended up buying the JW Speaker lights and I'm very happy with them.
