WTB tii air box brackets

Some people looking for tii airbox “brackets” are looking for the brackets welded onto the inner fender. Other people looking for tii airbox “brackets” are looking for the brackets that affix the airbox center canister to those fender brackets. Just for the sake of clarifying this, I’m guessing you’re looking for the latter, as shown as Items 12 and 15 on the attached, from RealOEM.com. But if not, you should perhaps clarify your search.

Both types of brackets — fender-mounted and canister-to-fender-bracket — are the same for 1971 through 1975 tii’s, Euro and U.S.-spec.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks for response and yes I’m looking for parts 12 and 15 (and also 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 to attach them) on that realoem diagram.

jb,

So #’s 6, 9, and 10 might still be available from BMW. They remained available a few years back, and RealOEM.com — only a little out of date — doesn’t yet show them as “ENDED”. And I believe I used four more 6’s in lieu of four 7’s, which I believe was also originally a rubber washer. If you have even one # 8 washer, essentially a fender washer, you can find metric fender washers of virtually the same inside and outside diameters. # 11 is simply four M6 hex bolts, with four M6 nuts, and four wave washers to secure the brackets to the fender-brackets. Those #11 M6 hex bolts might be 15mm. to 20mm. long (my tii is many miles away, with the engine out, so I can’t simply measure them).

This would leave you with solely those pesky #’s 12 and 15, admittedly hard to come by. Occasionally I see an airbox central canister for sale, devoid of the end (snorkel) pieces. That would be optimal. And recall that you don’t care if it’s a ‘74 central canister or a Euro central canister, because all you need is the brackets!

Below, my ‘73’s airbox after “restoration”. If I took liberties, I’ll never tell! ?

Good luck,

Steve
