New calipers, pads and hardware issue

Too late now-

 

but for posteriorerity, 

 

next time take a countersink and chamfer the calipers where the ferrules

go in.  That'll compress 'em while you whail on them with the bigger hammer.

 

Actually, the bigger drift's the real key, and you push hard on the drift while then

tapping its end.  Keeps the liddle boogers from trying to pop back out.

 

I think I used a new set of those pins... once.  Maybe.

Can't swear to it, but I don't remember every replacing those pins with new ones when doing brakes on either of my two cars--52 and 48 years old respectively.  So long as the ferrules aren't broken and the pins are a tight fit, they really don't need replacing.
