ya tried those but just doesnt fit properly. Almost have to hammer them in place!

They are designed to be "twisted" in place to lock.  Perhaps untwist them and try attaching them to the center hub. 

 

hence the hexagonal tool

I see what you mean and yes tried everything but fit and finish is just ....well....doesnt work!

If it's the correct cap you shouldn't even need the tool to twist it into place to install nor to remove it as many a thief has easily proven. The picture you show appears to be an RS wheel which has a center cap that actually threads into place and can be tightened so tight that it cannot be removed by hand without the tool.  It's just a center cap.  Things are being made far too complicated. Lol

Lol,..  no I meant I’d swap an e30 centre cap for an Octavo wheel, from memory you had a set of Octavo’s that you were willing to split as you only needed a couple? Or did I get that completely wrong (probably ??)

AH, got it. Your memory is correct but the Octavos long gone. I will keep my eyes open for some. I may know of one sitting outside someone’s shed but unaware of condition etc. I will go check it this weekend for you. Will be cheap like $30-$40
