Description:

Long Story short: This is a 66 BMW Neue Klasse barn find that i picked up with the intention of turning it into a cheap and cool driver that i could also autocross. It had sat for at least 30 years before i got it in an airplane hanger. I got it running/ and driving and put tires on it but currently doesn't have brakes, as of right now i am swapping out engine/trans mounts and fixing a rusted out freeze plug. I have a bunch of money/time tied up into this thing and i am considering continuing with the project but today realized the rear glass is hazed over and i can not find a way to fix it, most cars you would just replace it, not really an option on these as far as i can tell.

The car is fairly solid with a couple of spots rusted through in addition to a few dents. The floors are surprisingly solid with only one hand sized soft spot. A few rust spots on the doors and fenders but nothing all that large. Interior is pretty complete but i believe this car has sat in the desert since the dash completely cooked and cracked. Seats dont seem to have any tears and would clean up decent. The car is missing keys and someone tried(succeeded) to break into the trunk so the trunk lid is beat up. The car was flat towed quite a bit, when i got it still had the flat tow hitch up front, at some point the car was hit on the front and is missing the grille.

I can provide a lot more details and pics for someone interested. Asking 2500 and am open to trade, i will continue working on the car but i am hoping to find a better home for it. The car is way to good to be parted out in my opinion.

I've seen a good number of these cars in the salvage Yards in Southern California 25 years ago. So, at one time the sheet metal and glass was readily available from the salvage yards, but no more. I think the Coupe King was selling NOS sheet metal panels, including quarter  panels and rear panels, on e-bay recently. That's a pretty noble effort to save that car. And, it can be saved and brought back to pristine shape, but with a lot of hard work and some $$. The trunk along with the rear panel look pretty mangled. The rust on the trunk lid is pretty worrisome. And, I would look for a replacement. The front apron on the nose is also pretty mangled. A good metal worker with a lot of patience can probably repair it, but it would be a lot easier to replace it, if you can find one.

What is surprising is that the seats are in such good shape and not cracked. It's amazing they survived the elements.

I'm looking for one of these vertical taillight NK cars, but I'm all the way in Southern California, and I don't have the spare sheet metal. I do have a rebuilt motor for one along with pressure plate, flywheel and clutch disk, though, never run, which I recently acquired. It's too bad I didn't grab spare sheet metal at the local yards. They were selling the hoods, trunk lids and complete doors with glass, locks and all mechanisms for only $25 / each. And, there was hardly any rust on them.
