THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD

Remember the DotCom stock market madness when buyers were buying anything speculating on the fast rise, then it all collapsed.

The 2002 market may be approaching same.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Oh, and here I thought this was going to be an O/T politics thread...

...the price of old cars being one of the least insane things right now.

Well it does have an esty carpet set in it, no?

Has the world gone mad? Well take into account that a teenager-without an ID, just tried to storm the TSA gate to get on his flight and then proceeded to engage a bystander in a fist fight, does say something about where we are headed.

Crime and punishment are not equal anymore. No fear of consequences = brazen foolishness. But we are no longer allowed to call a spade a spade so ALL manner of social behavior must be tended to with kit gloves.

We are doomed, but what do I know.

Was that political enough?

Sounds like this is following right along with the "Greater Fool" theory--that there will always be someone willing to pay yet a higher price for something desirable...until there isn't, and the bottom drops out of the market.  Read about the Great Tulip Craze in the 18th century and you'll realize this isn't a new phenomenon.

Even an S14 engine and tranny doesn't raise to anywhere near the asking price...The Golf tii on BAT is a much better buy.

Just a chancer trying to make a bit of coin, be interesting to see what it goes for, maybe half?

I can almost hear someone’s partner saying

”the bloody car, all your time, all your money, it needs to go”

so the owner posts it at a crazy price….. oh dear it’s not sold, will have to wait for the market to recover!

Well....in 2021 numbers........

S14 core: $18-20K

S14 rebuild: $15-20K

Transmission: $1.5k

Custom 2.5" exhaust: $1.8k (Recent build installed)

Rear e30 LSD: $1.1k

Driveline: $500

S14 Motor Mounts: $500

Electrical Harness: $2.0k

Interior rebuild: $10-20k (as recently quoted locally)

Paint and flare fitment quality "b": $6-10k

2002 Core Shell: $6k

Suspension: $18-3.2k

A/C: $3.5k installed

Wheels and tires: $1.1K

$82,800 and missing swap labor which I'd estimate at 120-300hrs. not to mention all the other bits like fueling, cooling and hundreds of other small things

Thats why this swap made sense 10 years ago but today I wouldn't try it
