Original 50k !!!!

The BHCC pics show both front seats reupholstered and 2 of the 3 gauges had been replaced. Is the correct looking speedo even the original? The stated original Owner must have thrashed this car if 50k is true.

Maybe a stupid question but what model years of the 1600's came with the embossed belt line trim?  I love the chrome used on these early cars especially the embossed belt line trim and the interior trim piece on the dash.  You can just see the handiwork of the green eyeshade accountants over the years with the 1600's and 02's trimming away the extra costs, beefing up the operating margins no doubt.

Only the trim on the front of the hood was embossed. The trim piece running between the taillights was also embossed, but I don’t consider that part of the belt-line trim.

And the embossed hood piece was more a function of manufacturing date than sub-model. The very earliest 2002’s — we’re talking November 1967 into January 1968 — appear to have had  the embossed hood piece. Below is VIN 1660001, the first 2002 manufactured (November 28, 1967). Some speculate that, but for a few road test or test vehicles, the application of the embossed hood trim ceased as soon as regular production commenced. I don’t dismiss that possibility.

As to early 1600-2’s having the embossed hood piece, I estimate that they had it from the beginning of 1600-2 production, March 1966, until approximately November 1967.

Best regards,

Steve
