The 1974 2002:

Install aluminum radiator, in tank electric fuel pump, refurbished gauge cluster and 3 extra VDO gauges. Fix door brake pin holder. Restore the spare rear trailing arms and get rear disc brake kit.

The 1986 E24 635csi:

Tear out the original M30b34 with blown head gasket and 4hp auto. Put in M106 and G260 in!!!!!!

The 1988 Toyota 1-ton pickup:

Install bigger front brake calipers and realign front bumper.

The 2006 Subaru outback:

Replace struts and shocks and possibly lift suspension.

The 2012 F10 535i:

Oil change and figure out why the new SZL/ steering angle switch doesn't want to calibrate(stupid computers).

Fix my cold start circuit, refit my afr, finish connecting my VDO gauges, rebuild my bottom end, recover my Recaros, clean and antirust/wax protect the underneath of the car, fit new doors and trunk… jeez bit much now I’m writing it?… oh but first new driveway, and I have to personally build my garage, cos I’m way to anal to let another tradie do it? I make my life sooo much harder than it needs to be ?

build my new deck so she who must be obeyed will let me play with cars(she’s  great really and totally cool about my 02 disease)

oh and go to work…almost forgot?

My engine is still in pieces. Plenty of time, with it being January, but dealing with a broken rocker arm and a cracked head just isn't all that pleasant. Admittedly, I have had good luck for many years but, I hope that 2022 has many trouble-free classic car miles in store for me.

Don’t let the fear of what could happen

make nothing happen…

the list for the year seems too long.

  1. Events
    1. BayAre02 Swap and Show
    2. Monthly Neue Klasse and Kaffee
    3. May be get NK&K to other regions.  Any volunteers?
    4. SoCal Vintage
    5. Legends of the Autobahn/Monterey Weekend
    6. Hoping to get to one of the major events outside of California. not sure which one yet. Looking for recommendations. Most likely i will fly there and bum a ride :)
  2. Finally get the garage done.
    1. Move brewing equipment out
      1. Refinish Brewing room (this will take longer then anything)
    2. Paint walls
    3. Epoxy the floor
    4. Install double stacker lift.
  3. Getting Touring repaired
    1. rust repair in the left rocker (may be more)
    2. replace carpet
    3. reupholster the seats.
  4. Work with some vendors to get items added to the FAQ store. A lot easier now.

Not sure how much i can get done, but these are some good goals.

My main goal is to maintain enthusiasm and momentum on the project! I didn't get near enough done last year. I completely lost momentum after the brake system rebuild.

Overarching goal this year is get the car in good enough shape for an AutoX event. That will involve at minimum:

-Addressing some transmission noise. Let me know in this thread you have a good Seattle area mechanic you recommend!

-Installing strut bearings

-Installing bilsteins front and rear

Ideally I would also get:

-New end links installed

-New Danjer control arms and brace installed

-New bushings everywhere

-some rust mitigation. Ideally would do some repairs, but I think best I can hope for is slapping on some Fluid Film and stopping the rust for now.

But I am trying to not overload and disappoint myself and then just completely lose interest in working on the car.

You need to make it to Mid Am, obviously!

I have two WAY-too-long-delayed 2002 goals for this year:

1. Live in the same city as my car (either move it to me or me to it—more complicated than it seems)

   —and—

2. Finish my long-simmering  documentary film on the ‘02 and the wide array of wonderfully devoted ‘02 people!
