This slip ring is #1 in drawing below. It's for CA emissions and goes into the front of the exhaust manifold to join another pipe from the check valve for the air pump.

Thanks for the reply! I don't know the dimensions but if it fits between the exhaust manifold and the pipe to the check valve it is probably correct. Give me a day to measure my exhaust manifold.  

 

Edit: Does the pipe fit inside the slip ring or butt up against it end-to-end ? The diagram isn't very clear how this works.

It turns out I already had a slip ring and didn't know what it was. I found it amongst all the junk that came with the car. Thanks again for looking. Your photo was helpful - the parts book drawing was so fuzzy I coudn't tell what it as supposed to look like.
