My Dad's approach to small (and not-so-small) scratches on his cars:  pull an ever-present handkerchief out of his pocket, lick a corner once or twice, and apply the licked hanky to the offending scratch.  Didn't do a thing for the scratch, but made him feel better. 

 

He was the guy--despite his career in railroading--that I used to kid about taking his car to the shop to have the license plates changed.  I learned how to work on cars from my father-in-law...

might need a pneumatic tapper, I mean you probably only need a few tens of thousands of light taps to fix that up right nice, smooth enough for some spray filler...
