Wanted: Mechanical fuel pump rod

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a 2002 mechanical fuel pump rod in a parts stash they're willing to part with? I want to back to a simple mechanical pump and am missing only the rod.

Thanks!!

There were two different length rods, depending on the pump you're using. If you post a photo, we can help you determine which one you need. Show us the underside of it - specifically inside the base.

I'm going to be using the new Pierberg fuel pump that's available from AutohausAZ, so I have no idea what size I need. I didn't realize there were 2 lengths.

Thanks

I can virtually guarantee  you that the pump they ship you will not fit, because it interferes with the upper coolant hose to the intake manifold. Pierburg has had a packaging issue with these pumps for a couple years now. I've been ordering 3.0 bavaria pumps or getting the 2002 ones direct from BMW for this reason.  Call / email BluntTech - and give your hard earned cash to a specialist and enthusiast that KNOWS the cars - it'll be cheaper in the long run and way less hassle. Thanks Paul.

Im not running the upper coolant hose to the manifold, and I have a 318i coolant bypass pipe going from the water pump to the heater. I live in Arizona so a warmed up intake manifold is a given lol

But thanks for the response. I honestly forgot about Blunt so I will definitely check out his website and contact him.
