M42 WANTED

Hi,

 

I know this isn't 02 specific but it's similar and going in an 02 so relevant enough?

 

I'm looking for a m42 to drop in to my car while I design/build the motor I want to run next.

 

If you have a complete powertrain that's optimal but will take any/all the necessary bits.

One thing to look for would be an e30 318i convertible. I would search out 1000 miles in every direction on Craigslist.  They don't hold their value compared to coupes and sedans, and are often suffering from conv top damage and interior damage. Getting the whole car would give you the whole drivetrain and wiring harness. You could probably part out the rest for what you paid for it and get the drivetrain for free.

Precisely what I did.  Bought a 91 318i convertible in San Diego for about 1800 bucks.  The person selling it was so happy that someone was going to get Grampa's car back on the road!  Felt kind of bad!
