Door felt retaining clip removal

 A quick one - read through the door trim articles but didn't see a specific response to this question.

 

How does this come off - don't want to damage the top metal piece.

I used a little flat blade screw driver under the round part of the clip to carefully pry it off.

If you're referring to the clips at the top of the door upholstery panel that clip into the inner edge of the window opening...

 

Once I have all the plastic retainers popped loose, so that only that row of clips is holding the upholstery panel to the door, I'll first try to pop 'em loose by hitting the lower edge of the panel with the heel of my hand, starting at the door's trailing edge.  If that doesn't work, I use either a long screwdriver or a putty knife worked between panel and door, centered on the rearmost clip, and tap with a small hammer. 

 

Be very careful prying on the aluminum trip along the top edge of the panel; it's easily bent and very difficult to straighten once bent.  A hard-learned lesson some years ago!
